Alicia Nugent is an investigator who specializes in the Department of Child Safety. Alicia has a Master of Legal Studies emphasizing conflict resolution and criminal law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with an emphasis in Morality, Politics, and Law, both from Arizona State University. Alicia began working at the Ombudsman’s Office in January 2020 as an intern through the Arizona Legislative and Government Internship Program. In May 2020, she became an Assistant Intake Ombudsman. She later promoted twice more and is now serving as an Investigator specializing in DCS matters. Alicia is proficient in the DCS case management system, Guardian and classified as a power user. Alicia completed the New Ombudsman Training through the United States Ombudsman Association (USOA) and is an active member of USOA’s Children and Families Chapter. She is also certified as an investigator/inspector by the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR) after completing the National Certified Investigator and Inspector Training (NCIT). Alicia is fluent in German.
